Caithness Glass is a world leader in the creation and manufacture of high
quality paperweights and art glass. Since their inception in 1961 they have
taken their inspiration from the colors of the Scottish landscape - warm
peaty tones, heather purple, golden sunsets, the gray blue of the lochs.
Caithness Glass Paperwieghts History
In 1968, they added glass engraving to their skills, and in 1969, they developed
innovative techniques for producing abstract paperweights. Today, over 30
years later, their paperweight studios in Perth combine the finest design
and traditional skills to create pieces, which are entirely unique, and
they are now justifiably regarded as one of the world's most respected producers
of museum-quality paperweights.
Caithness Glass Paperweights Color
Caithness Glass and color are synonymous. From the set up of the glass studios in 1961 in Wick, Caithness sought to use colors innovatively, taking inspiration from the stunning landscapes of Scotland. From the purple of the heather clad moors, to the smoky gray of the soot left by the burning peat, and the vibrant blue of the Scottish lochs, the innovative use of color in glass is in Caithness's blood.
